Adopting a dog or cat from the Destitute Animal Shelter Bolton is a rewarding experience that gives a vulnerable animal a second chance at a loving home. However, pet ownership is a lifelong commitment that requires careful consideration. Providing food, veterinary care, exercise, and companionship is essential to ensuring a pet’s happiness and well-being. Many of our rescued animals have faced hardship, and they need stability, patience, and kindness to thrive. Before adopting, it’s important to assess whether your lifestyle, time, and resources can meet an animal’s needs. At our shelter, we are dedicated to matching pets with responsible, caring owners who can offer them a safe and happy future.

Adoption fee:
£250 for a dog.
Adoption fee:
£100 for a cat.
£150 for a kitten.
IMPORTANT: If you rent your property, please make sure you have permission from your landlord before applying for a cat or dog.
Stray Animals: We are still taking in stray cats. For stray dogs, please contact the dog warden or Manchester Dogs Home. We can take dogs as emergencies only, over the weekend.

We are looking for a calm, quiet, patient foster home for our scared boy Homer. He is very nervous and shut down in the cattery so we are looking for a foster home for him whilst he gets ready for his forever home. Homer has a heart murmur and needs to be neutered. He is also very nervous so he needs either a pet free home or a room to call his own.
Nala is a friendly girl who would like a home where she gets lots of love and cuddles but also has time to explore outside. She is very friendly and calm. Nala is a beautiful girl! Although Nala has lived with cats before we think Nala would like to be the only pet so she gets all of the attention.
Meet our beautiful Minnie, She is the sweetest of girls and is so friendly! She came to us after she was abandoned by her owner, whilst she was heavily pregnant. A kind lady had been looking after her until we had space. Minnie had a troublesome pregnancy and looked huge! Now that her 3 babies are all grown up and flying the nest Minnie is looking for her forever home.
Henry is a gorgeous, friendly boy who is super sweet and loves his cuddles. He loves to relax on his bed and watch the world go by, he was used to outdoor access in his previous home so he will need this again when hes settled.
Bill and Ben are the cutest, cheekiest little kittens. They are playful and absolutely love attention! They are typical kittens and need lots of time and attention.
Billie is a beautiful girl who can be shy at first but once she comes out of her shell she is friendly and loving.
