Lily has been returned into our care – she became very protective of the male in the home and would not let anyone near him, her adopters felt unable to try and correct this.
We have kept her for 2 months to see if she displays these issues here at the Shelter and has not, she plays with other dogs, has no issues with any staff members and does not guard any of us on site or on a walk. We feel as there is too much going on here at the shelter it distracts her, but once in a home she is able to focus more on her adopter. She would need an adopter who is experienced with large dogs and able to work with her once adopted.
Although she is good with other dogs, sometimes she can get nowty when she has had enough but she does respond to voice commands .
Lily is good on a walk (we recommend a gentle leader as well as her harness, this will allow you to gently pull her head away to keep her focused on the walk if she were to show any issues whilst on a walk)
There are lots of videos online on how to help dogs with resource guarding.
